Ancient Pirate Map of the Meadow

Sail your ship to the Meadow Island

Sail your ship to the Meadow Island

The history of the Meadow is quite interesting…

Did you know, for example, that pirates used to bury their treasure all around the Meadow?

We know this because an ancient pirate treasure map was dug up years ago while excavating the holes in which the fish gates were mounted.  The map was in pretty poor shape, but through modern technology we have restored it to almost pristine quality.

If you want to simulate what the map looked like when it was found, then just follow these steps:

  1. Print out the map on your usual printer paper
  2. Tear the edges off the page to give it a rough look: top, bottom and sides
  3. Wipe a cold, wet tea bag over both sides of the page. The page will turn a light brown color. The page should be soaked through by the time you are finished.
  4. Crumple the map into a ball and let dry over night. To accelerate the process you can dry it with a hair dryer. If you are really in a rush you can dry in an oven set to low heat. Make sure your fire alarm batteries have not expired first!!
  5. Gently open the map, and wipe both sides with cooking oil. Blot off the excess with paper towels.

By this point, your treasure map will have an unbelievably authentic look!
