Loo on the Meadow
The Millennium Green is a public open space that is used a lot by a very wide range of people from our community and by visitors from outside.
Some elderly dog walkers particularly need lavatory facilities and its essential for elderly folk sitting at the north end of the meadow.
Families and Friends have picnics and parties and organised groups like The Beavers and Child minder groups are sometimes present in goodly numbers and there is always someone who needs a lavatory.
TheBaptist Church had a summer picnic and last year The Basingstoke Ramblers chose the meadow for their summer picnic. The temporary toilet was much used.
Events such as Mayday and Halloween; Mobile Laboratory Educational Visits; School Visits and Punch and Judy all add to the demand for toilet facilities.
Special Needs groups come regularly as the location is deemed very safe and convenient.
Volunteers and contractors doing work on a regular basis need lavatory facilities.
Since or temporary facility has been in place we have seen increased use of the Millennium Green and we feel very concerned that the removal of this basic public need would result in a decline in use and some waste of many years of investment.
The provision of safe and effective facilities must be a topic well established and including effective treatment of far more toxic residues than our clients would generate.
It is such a basic and simple need for our community and the ongoing development of our valuable social resource.
