Blazing Bonfire and Fantastic Fireworks
There was a blazing bonfire and fantastic fireworks under a full moon on the Meadow this evening. About 1500 residents and visitors came to the Meadow to enjoy the festivities celebrating October 31st. Photos are below.
People arrived through the Meadow gates starting at 5:30pm. The path into the Ogham Circle was lined with creatively carved pumpkins that kids delighted in.
An awards ceremony was held by Whitchurch Arts for their creative Pumpkins and Guys competition – the winning kids delighted in choosing a toy from the prize pool. See their website for a complete list of winners HERE.
The Whitchurch Festival ran the rest of the evening – first up was a fancy dress competition run by Cindy. Congratulations to the scary winners!
Some tasty food and hot drinks (and only hot drinks!) were on offer as people socialized.
Shortly, the gigantic bonfire that had been built up by tireless volunteers all day was set alight. Whoosh! Now that was a fire! The flames grew taller and taller and taller. They went higher than the trees on the Meadow!
Then it was time for the grand finale: fireworks! The crowd were treated to an amazing show of light and sound.

Thank you to all the volunteers and community groups that made the evening a spectacular success! Here’s to next year’s!
