Lily Pads ~ A Poem

Two pupils of Whitchurch primary school had their works published recently in the school’s newsletter.  Their families are pleased to share them with you. One is here, and the other is on the Whitchurch Arts site.  Enjoy.

Lily Pads

Delicately floating around
As the still water ripples
Under them.
Shaped like a cup
With no handle.
Coloured like
Smooth ice cream.
They shake slightly
As the breeze passes.
They are like a boat
Shimmering in the light.

Like a light bulb
In a dark room.
All it takes is one glimpse
And it will put a smile on your face.
They attract wildlife like
A magnet and metal.

On the outside they show beauty
On the inside they show magic.
Like shooting stars
Soaring across space
Like an aeroplane.
They hold so many wonders
They hold so many secrets.
